Aftermarket Zurn 74635-39 Coalescing Filter Element
This is an aftermarket replacement for the Zurn (General Air) 74635-39 coalescing filter element, supplied by Air Lubricants and manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications. It is a direct drop-in fit for Zurn 74635-39 filter housings and is commonly installed as the pre-filter upstream of a refrigerated or desiccant air dryer.
What a Coalescing Pre-Filter Does
A coalescing filter sits on the air line just before the air dryer. Its job is to remove oil aerosols, liquid water, and fine particulates before they reach the dryer. In desiccant dryer systems especially, unfiltered oil will contaminate the desiccant and destroy the dryer, making the pre-filter one of the most important maintenance items in your compressed air system.
The 74635-39 element uses inside-to-out flow: contaminated air enters the center tube, passes through the coalescing media, and oil droplets merge into larger drops that drain to the filter sump while clean air exits the outer wall.

Typical Installation
Installed inline on the compressed air system between the compressor aftercooler and the air dryer. If you have a desiccant dryer, a coalescing pre-filter like the 74635-39 is required to protect the desiccant bed. A particulate after-filter is typically installed downstream of the dryer.
